the last day of April
but it's still a bit cold
flowers are strong enough
to bloom despite unseasonable weather

They bloom roundly
as if lots of balls are stuck
on every branch
found them in Mr. Hiei

went to Mt. Hiei
found various new lives,
which have got tremendous power
You can feel that yourself in the woods

also planted green leaf
. . . sanchu . .
. . . . . chisha . .
. . . . . . . lettuce . .

Have planted bitter melon today
It is widely grown for edible fruit,
which is among the most bitter
of all vegetables

In The Kyoto Botanical Garden
found an interesting tree
It's strange, isn't it ?
cherry blossom

Christmas Rose
the back side of the flower
sometimes looks more interesting
from the unusual angle

It's a wonder tree.
Such an old trunk
So many fruits on it
How powerful it is !

This Water Lily is so tiny.
Its oval floating leaf is small.
The killifish is living in the puddle.
The little frog sometimes visits here.

The leaf is holding a drop of water on it.
The scenery is reflected in the drop.
The leaf is so flat just like a floor,
and grows in between 1st and 2nd floor.

Isn't it beautiful ?
Nature is not always natural.
It is sometimes extraordinary,
and often gives me ideas.

Colours work on the mind of people.
. . . to be excited . .
. . . to be relaxed . .
. . . to be delighted . .

Give out breath through the mouth
slowly and completely
Take in breath through the nostrils
with inflating stomach

It's so windy today . .
. . still quite cold out . .
somewhere in between . .
. . winter and spring . .

ko . tsu . ko . tsu . .
. za . wa . za . wa . . .
. . u . . ki . . u . . ki . . .
. . . ru . . n . . ru . . n . . .

After a strong cold wind
snow started to come down.
It plays with the wind for a while
and rests as it likes.

The tempo of modern life is too fast.
Take time to talk to others and think.
ask . . listen . . look . . read . .think . .
do nothing . . just wait and think . .

Leaves're beginning to turn red
in Hakusasonso, Hashimoto
Kansetsu Memorial Museum and
Garden near Ginkakuji-temple.

The terrible hot weather
has brought a rich harvest.
My blackberry was remarkable
and also our old pomegranate.

Today is gonna be the day
that they've gonna throw it back to you
By now you shoulda somehow realized
what you gotta do

It will bring us a sign of autumn
although it's still quite hot.
At dusk it gets dark earlier
and you hear crickets singing.

Nice name, isn't it ?
Hardly see any . . .
recently . . very rare
It's a little tiny bagworm

English name is
Brazilian glory bush.
This bud is about to open.
Soon is going to be in its glory.

I see trees of green
. . . red roses too
I see 'em bloom
. . . for me and you

Well I'm on my way
I don't know where I'm going
I'm on my way I'm taking my time
But I don't know where

A few days after taking this picture,
found that most of berries had gone.
It must be a bird's doing.
A bulbul !! Booooo !!!

A long spell of rainy and cloudy weather
has made this fruit gone off and burst.
Beautiful babies was growing inside.
This is the first time I saw them in this stage.

You'll remember me when the west wind moves
Upon the fields of barley
You'll forget the sun in his jealous sky
As we walk in the fields of gold

Kodachrome
They give us those nice bright colours
They give us the greens of summers
Makes you think all the world's a sunny day

Every single day
Every word you say
Every game you play
Every night you stay . .

There's a kind of hush
All over the world tonight
All over the world
You can hear the sound of lovers in love

Like every humming bird and bumblebee
Every sunflower, cloud and every tree
I feel so much a part of this
Nature's got me high and it's beautiful . .

The Milky Way upon the heavens
is twinkling just for you
and Mr. Moon he came by
to say goodnight to you . . .

Somewhere over the rainbow
Way up high
And the dreams that you dream of
Once in a lullaby

It is a view just as usual.
Higashiyama which can be seen
from my place.
That's all . . . nothing special.

the 90th summer
the simple daily life
pull down the old house
the cool and forward-looking mind

picturesque scenery
. the land of fairy . . .
. . the land of dreams . . .
. . . the land of fiction . . .

The above is a view from the Museum.
Asahi Beer . . .
Oyamazaki Villa . . .
Art Museum . . .

The Woodblock Print
nanban . . .
bunmei kaika . . .
egeresu iroha . . .

I want to run
I want to hide
I want to tear down the walls
That hold me inside

the sun and the wind
temperature and humidity
the air and the plants
all nature in harmony

Your day breaks, your mind aches
You find that all the words of
kindness linger on
When she no longer needs you

The cherry trees are reflected
on the surface of the water.
The night view is also fascinating.
They look completely different.

a vermillion torii . . .
. a vermillion torii . . .
. . a vermillion torii . . .
. . . sakura in between . . .

sakura . . .
. sakura . . .
. . sakura . . .
on a fine day in April

The view from the shrine which is located
in the southern end of the hill Yoshida.
While standing still here under the arch of
cherry trees, always have special feelings.

The pagoda of Shinnyodo can be seen
over the cherry blossoms. While you hear
the birds singing here, you might feel
that you've been back to ancient times.

Typical . . .
. Kyotolike . . .
. . Springlike . . .
. . . The moment . . .

People gather around you
this year as usual.
You are the quintessence
of the spring in this country.

Fresh leaves have already come out.
Stands out the purple colour of the veins
on the green base. It's a special design
only for a short period. Yes, it's hydrangea.

The mountain has absorbed plenty of rain
since last night.
It is slowly vapouring at the moment.
The rain is going back up to the sky.

We had a wintry sky yesterday.
Undergoing a complete change today,
we've enjoyed Uguisu's warble early morning
and also a view of plum blossom in the sun.

These trees are waiting for the time
without a single leaf on every branch.
What lovable living things they are !
Compared to the photo on Nov. 8.

Lunar New Year has just started.
It's based on the moon's waxing and waning.
. . . a new moon . . . a half moon
. . . a full moon . . . an old moon

What is this strange fellow ?
. . . could be cauliflower.
. . . could be sponge.
. . . could be mu shi pa n .

It's so windy today, and
I could hear the wind sing.
Trees are swinging in the air, and
people are walking down the street.

It's nice warm weather today,
too warm for this season.
I've been to Kitano Tenman-gu.
Plum trees are in bloom now.

This blossom smells noble.
It gives out a nice smell all around,
and attracts not only bees' attention
but also people's one.

A yellow ranunculus is sunny,
and looks more lively in the sun.
It's a flower that always lifts the spirits.
Its petals are so thin and delicate, though.

Since yesterday,
the wind has been so cold.
Before dawn it snowed a little,
which has brought us a snowy mountain.

Vision and Venture.
These would lead you to Victory.
So said the great doctor whom I respect,
on the TV program this morning.

The above flower goes like this.
Unexpected change, isn't it?
It looks like an artificial one, but it is not.
It's honestly fresh.

Cacao reminds me of the story,
'CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY'
which used to be my textbook for English Reading
in my school days. I have seen the film this year.

We have been to Arashiyama,
though it was so cold out.
We had almost a monochromatic world
down there just like illusion.

Oh My Gosh!
Several hours after I visited here,
this bridge was damaged by the car
which a teenager was driving.

Ginkgos are medium-large deciduous trees,
reaching 20-35m tall. They are usually deep
rooted and resistant to wind and snow damage.
(These words are from Wikipedia)

Bamboo grows straight up.
It bends not to break.
It lets the sunlight and the wind
comfortably pass through its leaves .

Encountered the abstract drawing
above the Higashiyama in the sky.
The moment when the sky and the mountain
collaborated to create the transient view.

It is amazing to see how many people
come and see autumnal scenery in Kyoto.
In spite of horrible weather . . .
Around Nanzenji-temple it was really crowded.

Listening to Sting's latest album, which is
the music of the Elizabethan songwriter.
The beautiful sound of their lute
could take you to Old England.

Framing scenery with a window
that is to say . . .
Cutting out a part of scenery
Having turned out a picture

Happy Birthday to You !
We are so far away each other
but I've been thinking of you today.
Many Happy Returns !

I love this spot in any season.
Somehow I feel academic here.
The trees have nicely grown.
Petit Mother Nature in the city.

I went to the Irish fiddle concert.
It was just great and heart-warming.
Ireland will be my next destination.
So have I realized.

The early bird catches the worm.
More chances to notice small things
which you have passed by so far.
Try to be an early riser.

Subtle colouring -
Delicate lines -
A calm atmosphere -
Those are from Japanese spirit.

Lantana is sunbathing in Gurabar park.
It looks fresh and natural.
It may be a climate suitable for Lantana
to live in Kyushu.

We have the old pomegranate tree
in the gardenlike small space. It has borne
lots of fruits this year too. Feel like
reading Pomegranate Tree by Maugham.

There is an important part called a synapse
which links a newron to another in the brain.
It is indispensable for communication among
newrons. Astronomical figures !

Interesting to know about the brain.
Especially hyppocampus,
which is filled with plasticity.
It's a sort of factory of memory.

Bumped into the pine tree in a good shape
on a path out of the main street.
It goes well with the old Japanese house.
Those are so attractive to me.

Don't be a perfectionist.
It might cause pain.
It might make you irritated.
Make peace with imperfection.

If they have lotus seeds,
gloom of life would be removed and
happy dreams would be brought.
That's the way they thought.

It has the supreme function of
connecting us with the beyond.
This side and that side.
This world and the other world.

To my mind greenery is patient and
magnanimous, supporting flower.
It doesn't much insist. It just softens
the air and broadens your mind.

Cyperus Papyrus - sounds mysterious
and romantic to me.
My thought flys to the Nile.
Hoping to visit there someday.

To my dear friend on the other side of the world.
Yes, you must be strong for your beloved ones
and I do believe that you can keep it up.
This plant has a Japanese name which means Phoenix.

Never seen this water plant before.
Its tiny leaves are so beautiful
with being dashed water over .
Greenery is often nicer than flower.

After an interval of five years
Chiangmai has been changed a lot.
Tidied-up roads, more shops ...
and yet nature quite remains.

I have loved polka dot
since my childhood.
It looks so cute itself, and it leaves
a merry impression on others.

This pink one is extremely sweet.
I have first met it today.
It has subtle structure
just like a beehive.

A hot day and a windy day.
A cold day then a warm day.
What is the next?
The climate is unstable.

Spring has already been there
-just next to you.
Have you realized that the air
is filled with the energy of nature?

Allow yourself to be bored.
Counting petals . . .
You may feel like having a nap
in the orange field.

Don't know it's name . .
It's white and fluffly like fur.
名前がわからない白くフワフワした花。
どれが花びらなのか…。

On the last day of 2005
I must express my gratitude
to whoever I have met and
whatever I have seen in 2005

Don't you feel as if you just loved the world
on a morning like this?
And I can hear the brook laughing
all the way up here.

Anne stood up and drew a long breath.
“Oh, isn't it wonderful?” she said,
waving her hand comprehensively
at the good world outside.

It was broad daylight
when Anne awoke and sat up in bed,
staring confusedly at the window
through which a flood of cheery sunshine . . .

Avonlea is a lovely name.
It just sounds like music.
How far it is to White Sands?
It's five miles;

“We're not going over Barry's pond, if that's
what you mean by your Lake of Shining Water.
We're going by the shore road.”
“Shore road sounds nice,” said Anne dreamily.

And isn't pink the most bewitching colour
in the world ? I love it, but I can't wear it.
Red-headed people can't wear pink,
not even in imagination.

Lovely blossoms surrounded
with beautiful greenery
on the Rokko mountain
Each blossom can last one day.

A kind of hydrangea
Reminded of fireworks (hanabi)
by many little white star shapes
Its white is getting bluish

16 years have already passed
since K was born in Singapore.
Still growing in many respects.
Many Happy Returns !

Polygonum ajanense
Japanese name is Himeiwatade.
They grow as if they were crawling
on the ground.

Oxytropis megalantha
Japanese name is Rebunso.
It originally grows in Rebun Island which is
located in the north end of Hokkaido.

Dicentra peregrina
The queen of the Alpine flora
It looks like a horse's face,
so Japanese name is Komakusa.

It's a symbol of the Alps.
Small and white stars
on the mountains.
Edelwaiss

This is my first visit to
Rokko Alpine Botanical Garden.
First met Himalayan blue poppy.
It's picturesque !

It's fine and warm today.
But the rainy season is around the corner.
Talking about weather . . .
always reminds me of England.

The May breeze is floating
the fragrance of citrous flower.
It's small happiness.
It's the joy of Maytime.

Found a stranger
on a small white flower
It's a tiny mantis
Survive every danger !

The extra-fresh leaves
The extra-beautiful green
The extra-hopeful buds
Available only during this season

The little tiny honeybee visited
the mysterious lavender
to collect honey of it .
Got much enough ?

It's going to rain today.
No, it's already started.
The rainy season is coming soon.
Try to get along with the rain.

Japanese name is Tsurunichinichiso.
It's a funny name, isn't it ?
English name is Periwinkle.
It sounds cute to me.

It's getting so warm and bright.
Every plant is growing a lot.
There are no clouds in the sky.
Feeling fresh and energetic.

Junihitoe used to be formal costume
at the Imperial Court in old times.
They liken this flower to Junihitoe.
What a beautiful name it has !

Have got lots of energy
Almost ready to bloom
After taking some more sun,
it will come out.

Young leaves of black berry
have just come out.
Looking at them close by,
they are clothed with hair.

A violet means modesty
in flower language.
A small blue flower reminds me of ...
yes, that modesty person.

There are some sorts of separation
in each life, and it's inevitable.
But it is only a physical matter.
No separation in the spirit.

The early cherry blossom has already bloomed.
Each flower is very small and pretty,
but it is strong enough to bloom this season.
Still cold and often windy.

Another name is Helleborus orientalis.
It isn't a rose.
It doesn't bloom during Christmas in Japan,
and yet it's called Christmas rose.

The name is derived from Greek.
Ophio means a snake and
pogon means whiskers.
Anyway, it has got beautiful blue eyes.

Ivy leaves feel smooth.
Moss feels fluffy and soft.
Stones are rough and hard.
They feature each other.

Another name is Chloranthus glaber
It is popular as one of New Year
decorations for good luck in Japan
Being planted here and there

It was snowing in the morning
on the last day of 2004
It has turned to sleet, then rain
Brought 2004 to a snowy conclusion
